I'd like to see a challenge on the same size of map, but with 100 pilots and 50,000 points. Set the challenge map to 'engines required,' but have no minimal speed requirements.

People need to uncheck the checkbox for modules they aren't using. Like the Order.

I do not think it is necessary to go with 50'000 instead of 30'000, it just increases the amount of ships, but the tactics won't change much.

A few less pilots (though I am still unsure whether pilots should be a limiting factor to begin with. It strikes me as a bad fix for broken good fighters / performance issue). 30k / 100 seems practical.

Requires Engines, small to medium map. No further effects.

On a related note I'm deleting the "Nerf Empire?" fleet - I'm getting way too many messages/retaliations from people who haven't realized it's already been nerfed.

SAC-1-56 is up (4616820)
it beats the last 3 and some random SAC1 challenges I tested it on (including SAC 14,51 and 52)
the speed is at 0.15 for all cruisers

SAC 1-57 is up (4617547) Alliance

It beats 56, 55, 54 and 53

Cruisers are a bit slow, but that requirement seems to have been dropped. SAC 1 is a good format!

Most of the SAC 1 challenges don't maintain a 0.15 speed. That got left behind pretty quickly.

I can't see it anymore either... is there a reason why a challenge would disappear, I sure I didn't delete it?
stacking violation?

anyway it is reposted as SAC 1-58 (4620027)

I deleted the sac58 alliance, with its stacking and replaced it with SAC 1-58 Nomads (4620124). These have no stacking.. and show off the new missile, its nasty!

transreality,
My SAC 1-57 defeated your SAC 1-58 3 times out of 3 tests. I don't think it qualifies.

lavivi wrote:The other option, a missiles vs scrambler dynamic, isn't terribly subtle either. A plasma/scrambler team would easily clear the last three, which of course would be subsequently run the hell over by anything moving faster than 0.25. We end up with frigates or fast cruisers either way.

This is one reason why I'm so interested in getting scramblers to degrade with damage and other methods. As of now, if you dilute a missile fleet with too many other ranged weapons, you lose ability to overwhelm scrambler defenses. This can turn missiles into a bit of an albatross for combined arms forces... there's no middle ground with scramblers involved.

Which is why with my missile fleet i have a few scrambler/PD ships to eat enemy missiles and let my firepower concentrate on just MURDERING enemy fleets!

It won several times initially, but as I replay it more and more the percentage seems to be down to 50% or less. It seems to be dependent on the way the ships interfere with each other as they turn away as to whether they win. When I overlap them it wins more frequently... it might need a tweak or so, either to order ranges or the initial formation.
