Original Lightwave Models: Federation Puma and Eagle Cruiser

Welcome to the shipyards. Here you can discuss how to re-calibrate the positronic neutron flow to double power to the aft shields. Or you can discuss how to add new ships, new maps, new scenarios, new modules, etc. have fun!

I'm not sure on the politics behind copyrights Cliffski, but would it be possible to work out a deal with
ere4s3r so some of his improved models and textures can be included in the next update?

That definitely sounds like a good idea. I have no objections, that's for sure.
Feel free to email me on topics like that (cliff@positech.co.uk) if anyone has suggested content to be included.

I agree that those ones look really good (if not awesome! ^^), but the downside of those ships is that they will be not very visible in scenarios with a black background. The "colourcode" made it easy to distinguish between the fleets and the background. Also, the current turrets would look really strange in comparisson with the renders of ere4s3r. Just a little warning Cliff, you maybe should not just overwrite your old models! If it would be accesable as an alternative official mod it would be the best option I think. Just my opinion ;)

One step at a time, who says turrets aren't next in line for a makeover? And also, you could consider these models "alpha builds", they're not final, just a step towards improvement.

If this was real life, you would be right, but hard-to-see ships aren't good for entertainment :P

Yeah realism would be like GSB without sound ^^ I think that for a possible GSB2 the new renders (at least the style) will become reality or f.e. for the next race (addon). I don't think that Cliff would like to do the turrets a second time, because it's a real hassle!

Yeah space battles aren't very fun if you can't hear the pew pews or even see what you're shooting at.

Having higher-quality models for the next expansion seems like a bad idea, the quality level should remain the same for all expansions to help maintain the flow of the game. Now of course if Cliff can scrounge together higher quality models for all the ships from both the vanilla game and Tribe/Order expansions, then it would make sense to give the ships for the (hopefully) upcoming expansion the same treatment.

Cliff, maybe you should start outsourcing the final models to a 3rd party (ere4s3r I'm looking at you). You could focus more on level design and new weapons, and not have to worry about 3D modeling.
