Editing the .dds files?

Hey gang.

I recently picked up Starship Tychoon and am having a great retro-experience with it. I read in the Level Editing.doc that you could edit the ship/planet/nebula images in PhotoShop, but so far I've not had any success even opening the images. Is there a trick I'm missing?

Ok...I found the answer to the above question in the Democracy modding info, but now I seem to be experiencing a texture error when launching ST. I can only assume that it's related to the myriad of options presented when re-saving the dds file. Does anyone know what the correct setting should be?

could well be mipmaps. the game doesn't use them, so just turn them off :D
