Re: new Combined Arms-enhancing Command: "Get In and Get Out

Would also be very useful to have escort-destroying ships, (with anti-fighter and anti-destroyer weapons) then send in the torpedos or heavy beams when the Dreadnought's escorts are gone. Off-topic to this new-combat-order thread; please put that into a new topic.[/quote] No no, this kind of order ...

Re: new Combined Arms-enhancing Command: "Get In and Get Out

This would require some grouping of weapons into categories (beam lasers, pulse lasers, plasma, missile, PD (including scramblers), anti-fighter (tractor and limpet), probably), because giving separate orders for every weapon the enemy fleet could carry would become very absurd (there's, I think, 60...

Re: The fixing-dreadnoughts thread (gameplay-wise)

And I do quite like the cooperation between dreadnoughts and destroyers in destroying fighters. Green Glue, with respect to your preferences: Destroyer escorts should be performing all of that work. I created the original (and successful) design proposal for a coherent set of GSB2 destroyers, and s...

Re: Deployment feedback

The multi-phasic still exists, it's just called the heavy shield. If I recall correctly, the heavy shield has only 50 strength, but some stupendously high resistance. Compare this with the light shield that has 200 strength, but a much lower resistance.

Re: The fixing-dreadnoughts thread (gameplay-wise)

I would definitely keep the single-point tractor beams on dreadnoughts, I've found them to be quite useful for side or rear mounting, where other ships can destroy them. The multi-point tractors are probably too powerful, but the dreadnought weapons don't have the firing speeds to effectively use a ...

Re: The fixing-dreadnoughts thread (gameplay-wise)

Restricting the fire arcs would be a very good idea, although I would make most of the weapons only fire forward. Broadsides would look pretty silly on most ships (the hulls aren't exactly slim, because there's no aerodynamics to worry about). Might work for a few of them though. Having something ak...

Re: Suggestion (GUI): Add a screen between Main Menu and Des

Seconding this. A better hull picker would also be nice, being able to select a particular race or class and with a little preview. Instead of having to scroll trough a humongous list and trying to remember which of the three available dreadnoughts for that race is the biggerst.

It even shows me the achievements for Democracy 3, noting that I'm very close to achieving total gender equality!

Re: Cool modules or wastes of space?

Repair systems are great when you've got enough armor to stop enemy hits, but still need to repair lucky hits. Without a repair system the lucky hits will pile up and get your ship destroyed.

Re: Last Race try for quite a while: Mechas

The fighter shields are pretty nice, and would probably work well with a bomber type fighter, perhaps add a tweaked torpedo launcher to accompany this?
The shields are pretty cheap though, they could use a cost boost.

Is this a game suggestion or is it supposed to be some sort of forum game?

Re: Last Race try for quite a while: Mechas

You might want to chance the autocanons, the tribe already have an autocannon. I think races should not be clearly countered by other races, and the -30% shield penetration makes countering it very easy, so I suggest removing it. And what's the difference between hull strength and hull intergrety? A...

The new nomad target painter also has the wrong sprite, it looks like a plasma weapon.

Re: THE NOMADS (New race)

Hey Cliff, What will the price be when it comes out on Steam? Is it possible to buy it now on your website NOW and install it on a steam version ... or will it be incompatible with the Steam version? Will Steam recognize my purchase of Nomads as official? I am so excited. Can't wait :) The Steam pr...

Re: THE NOMADS (New race)

Is the target painter supposed to look like a federation plasma launcher in the battles? Is this somehow related to the tribe target painter looking like a federation beam laser?
