[1.40] New problem modules: frigate missile, P.D.

Spline missiles The obscure 'spline' flight pattern has been applied to standard frigate missiles. Previously it had only existed on yootani jaguar rockets, which also might need to be looked at. For whatever reason, this missile is now incapable of hitting even near-stationary or painted targets w...

[1.40] Fighters refueling at launch tubes

The zero-supply launch tubes now seem to be servicing fighters/gunships. (Normally they shouldn't - my fighters are now docking with the wrong vessels)

Fighters are now seeking them out and appear to be getting functionally unlimited refuel/repairs from them.

Re: Is hacking weapons possible?

Possibly related to this ?

I think targets that are out of range are being selected.

Re: [Balance debate] Cruiser shields.

Comparisons to GSB1 should also take into consideration that GSB1 had an optimum distance stat which could reduce damage of non-missile weapons even further. Interesting analysis, thanks. One of the motivations for the different design is that I dislike it when the game becomes a 'slugfest' which go...

Re: [Balance debate] Cruiser shields.

Alternatively you could go with different themes for shields: - Zero resistance shield with high recharge and very low capacity that can't be knocked out unless the module is destroyed - medium stat shield that selectively fires only against high damage shots, or can only block a shot every X millis...

Re: Help me decide on future development priorities...

I am doing this from a phone. Understood. The problem is working out exactly how to achieve this without dramatically changing the game from what it is, in terms of current casual players, and already-posted challenges. I do hate to break an already released non-beta game. Many of the popular 'harde...

Re: [Balance debate] Cruiser shields.

Is the intent to be a bargin or to be an actual defense? Resistance is really important - I think capacity is currently not 'budgeted' strongly enough against it. (See also: frigates.) Without it, when you've got a half dozen ships and even rocket fighters teeing off on your shield, capacity is the ...

Re: What is *ACTUALLY* going on with Armor

I always get very confused in these discussions. Rest assured I'm not trying to rush through changes, I just prefer it, as a gamer,. when there are less, but decisive patches regarding balances rather than constant tinkering, because I hate investing the time in working out decent strategies only t...

Re: What is *ACTUALLY* going on with Armor

1) 50% boost to all armor penetration values 2) 25% boost to all armor damage absorbables. Since armor absorption indirectly determines resistance, at this point we are just confusingly pushing the thresholds around. Wouldn't a more straightforward buff to absorption be cutting weapon armor damage ...

Re: What is *ACTUALLY* going on with Armor

The stats on pulse cannons are pretty much out of control. I've maintained throughout GSB1 that tying resistance to armor health is just balancing madness. It doesn't even make intuitive sense - a penetrating hit to the front of the ship makes the rear weak enough to be hit by fighters? That's a lim...

1.39: Fast Missile Launcher is... slow

The second stage of the fast missile launcher is now moving at a glacial pace. Perhaps this has to do with the change in how missile speeds were measured?

Re: Expansion Suggestion: Captains

More order conditionals would be nice, regardless of anything else.

I don't think physical captains add all that much, though. Assigning them to ships would be a UI annoyance that would definitely not scale well to large deployments.

Re: 1.32: Fighters cycling endlessly in carrier

Not in this case. They're definitely hitting the carrier because I can follow their fuel and hull points going back up through the right click interface. The plates just aren't getting replaced/repaired - they eject from the carrier with 60% armor and the (heading for repair...) order already in pla...

Re: The role of Frigates

Pulse rolls to hit, missile has at least two additional fail conditions. Fire rate becomes key there; it's no surprise pulse is better on targets out of tracking range. However, you can get much, much better performance out of the missiles if you simply equip painters with them. I used to pair my AF...

Re: The role of Frigates

I can agree with not wanting to make AFM too good, mainly because they are missiles, and work with guidance systems. Also, these aren't frigate specific weapons (destroyers can use them) so any further buffs are just going to be transferred over to destroyers in most fleets. If we want frigates to b...
