Re: America & Medi-care

Probably not... I hope not, anyway (at least, not as the current proposal is). I can see the reasoning behind the current policy that is being debated, but the "massive reform plan" is just not the way to go. I don't understand why the Democrats always want to push a huge mandate through r...

Re: Gun control in USA

Let's assume the following for a moment: ⋅ You have complete control over policy ⋅ banning handguns increases crime overall (for the sake of simplicity, say 20%), but decreases violent crime somewhat (again, for the sake of simplicity, say 20%). ⋅ allowing handguns decr...

Re: Questions.

Does either issue seem to be hurting your popularity? If not (which is likely), then my recommendation is to simply ignore them. Internet Crime you can't really do anything about anyway. It's basically the price that you pay for increasing your country's technical accomplishments. Tax Evasion simply...

Re: Game hangs as I start it up

I avoided 10 because it didn't have anything I needed

Me too. That seems to be the loose consensus amongst people.
To be honest, I don't quite get DX10. It's a little... strange.

Re: Game hangs as I start it up

So the short story is, you need to bug nvidia for newer drivers, because the ones on your laptop just arent working right :( Yes, definitely. (... sort of, which I get to below). I just wanted to say that first so that it's clear that we're really on the same page here. Anyway, re: D3DXCreateContex...

Re: Theoretical basis for the game?

This forum is "dead"? Did anyone tell Cliff? lol Anyway, I have no idea what Cliff really used for the AI (what there is of it). The game isn't really competitive/AI driven, regardless. I'm not really sure what you're asking about in regards to "any other experimental kind of social m...

Re: Game hangs as I start it up

Actually, nevermind the above. I see from your dxdiag listing that you're already using the 7.15.0011.7693 driver version. @Cliff: I suspect that I might see what could be the issue. D3DXCreateContext is an obsolete, DirectX7 D3DX function... Windows Vista uses DirectX 10 (there's no choice in that)...

Re: Game hangs as I start it up

The "Find update" thing in Windows is useless (except for Windows updates themselves, of course).

Re: Game hangs as I start it up

32 bit color is what you want. I think Cliff is going to turn out to be correct, that the drivers that you're using are messed up somehow. What brand and model video card do you have? ...it could possibly be DirectX itself that's messed up, somehow. There's a program called DXDiag that you should ru...

Re: difficulty of game

I can agree with all of that. Overall, the largest issue with the game (in every aspect) is how self-sustaining everything becomes. Both positive and negative, everything tends to feed on itself. By the end of the game the situation is normally either very positive or very negative. One thing that I...

Demigod sales triumph over piracy
Demigod may have had a rough start, but the sales are strong, even without counting digital sales. The message remains: focus on the customers, not the pirates.

Re: HELP

Email Cliff.
He doesn't post his email in order to prevent spam, but there's a link available on this page: http://positech.co.uk/support/index.shtml

Anyway, I don't know why you'd think that you were "interrupting"... this sort of thing is one of the things that the forums are for.
