I've been doing a lot of long playthroughs (for scenario balancing reasons) and it does seem to me that the robot upgrades for each slot to reduce processing time still feel a bit like a 'no-brainer'. As an example placing 'fit bottom trim' costs $16,800 but to add extra robots and boost speed by 10...

Interesting idea. One thing on my todo list for a long time (but put-off because other things took priority) is QA stations. These would be very small (maybe just 1 tile, or maybe 3 straddling a conveyor) and would check for any quality problems in nearby slots, and thus reduce defects. Obviously I ...

Probably not. The AI does *chase* the speed of your research. If you are racing ahead, then competition will try to catch up, and that will put downwards pressure on the market value for features.
