Re: Ship Orientation on battle setup

Thanks for the suggestion!

I just discovered that you can change the ship orientation in the deployment phase selecting the ship with shift + Mouse wheel!

Ship Orientation on battle setup

Can I change the initial orientation of my ships at the battle setup of a mission?
Some ships turn so slowly that they could use some help from a good initial setup!

Two "Pulse Cannon" weapon type available for cruiser/dread

Hi, I just boought GSB2 for Windows from Steam. In the weapon list available in the ship design for cruiser/dread, there are two weapons called "Pulse Cannon" with different stats. I enclosed a couple of snapshots. I guess that one of them has the wrong name! ;-) edit: In an old post Joeca...

Re: How do YOU use fighters in gsb2

IN GSB1 I usually build some engine-only lure fighters with range orders set to 2000. They definetely worth their cost!
Does that trick still work in GSB2?

Re: Feature Asymmetry and Player Immersion

my 2 cents about this topic ... generic modules, common to all races, should be considerably cheaper and with performance sensibly inferior to race-specific ones. You could build a cheap cruiser equipped with standard components or an expensive one with your race specific modules. In this way player...

Re: New Ship Design Screen

In my opinion, in the ship summary " Power Produced" and" Power Consumed" should be put together in the same bar ( or pie if you like). I would do just the same with Crew. I don't understand why "Weight" is near "Cost". How about "weight" and "s...

Re: GTB, Western front, Gamersgate, Steam

Hi, I realised what went wrong with the installation: the western front installer created a new Gratuitous Tank Battle directory inside the existing one created during the steam installation. I just reinstalled Wester Front making sure that the new file would be written in the existing directory and...

GTB, Western front, Gamersgate, Steam

Hi, Some weeks ago I bought by Steam a copy of Gratuitous Tank Battles. I just bought from Gamersgate Gratuitous Tank Battles The Western Front Expansion. At the positech website I found a page where you can have the steam key of the product if you insert the product key. I guessed that I will be ab...

Re: Too Cruiser-Heavy Gameplay?

I'm not an expert but I learned an hard lesson about campaign at Admiral level: never try to defend a planet! Usually the invading enemy fleet outnumbers mine and if you have to defend you don't have any clues about the enemy deployment. In my opinion, counterattack is far more effective than defens...

Re: Open call for comments regarding a new GSB race design

The gunner AI seam to follow this one: 1)Shoot at the ship who are the furthest possible and match my target priority. 2)If the shoot seam ineffective, reduce priority by one (out off?) Optional but often present 3)Set as high priority [damaged/already targeted by other gunner] ship Well if the sho...

Re: Open call for comments regarding a new GSB race design

How about a race that is able to outperform for a short period of time? With some race specific modules you can choose to give more engine thrust, faster repair or shield regeneration, more rate of fire or accuracy. The module boosts performance in one of this field for a while then everything retur...

Re: Open call for comments regarding a new GSB race design

Random thought: If a frigate could hide under the shield bubble of the cruiser it was escorting, then it would last longer in battle. The trick would be: A) How close does it need to be for the shield bubble to cover B) Telling the game that any incoming fire for Frigate A is directed to Cruiser B ...

My 2 cents about this topic: Federation fighters have slower speed but they have more hitpoints: they were damaged by enemy fire, but when they hit the enemy they more likely destroy it!
